Did Gothic Cathedrals Have Screens Between Choir And Ambulatory?

Posted by admin on October 18, 2009

All gothic cathedrals and of newer styles have these huge and heavily decorated walls separating the choir and the ambulatory. But I have seen that all these screens are not gothic: they use to be neoclassic or barroque style.
Were the original gothic cathedrals biult with any kind of separation of the choir or it was an empty area?
